I joined Dudley in 1994 and started my teaching career at Wrens Nest Primary. I worked there for just over five years before joining Kates Hill in central Dudley as part of the leadership team. I have been Headteacher at Wallbrook since September 2004. I think I was always destined to be a teacher, as when I was just 6 years old, Mrs Coral my class teacher told my mum and dad that despite being well behaved, given a chance I did like to try to take over the class!
I strongly believe that schools make a real difference to children and passionately believe that every child does matter. I absolutely love my role and as a school we are constantly looking at ways to improve the work we do.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my career to date and have been incredibly lucky to work with some extremely talented people - both staff and pupils.
Outside of school I am also a mum to Matthew and Evie. I am really lucky to have the best two jobs in the world, being a parent and being a Headteacher! I enjoy reading and my ambition is to one day have a room in our house devoted to books so that I can have my own mini library. I also love football and support Liverpool FC – much to my husband’s disgust as he’s a Derby County supporter.
I feel incredibly privileged to have a job which is both rewarding and challenging and certainly never boring and I am incredibly proud of our school – Wallbrook. I am always happy to show people around and can talk for ever about the wonderful things we do here at school. (Most people say I can talk for ever about anything!)
